Abstract

Objective: The objective of this study was to evaluate the correlation between molecular changes and the inflammatory cascade in deep carious lesions with dental pulp exposure. It also aimed to evaluate the success rate of vital pulp therapy (VPT).Materials and Methods:.A total of 40 cases with deep carious lesions with expected pulp exposure and signs of pulp vitality without signs of periapical inflammation were selected from the outpatient clinic, Faculty of Dentistry, Mansoura University.2.Another 6 control cases were selected from the orthodontics department clinic.Results:1.Our results showed that there is a statistically significant difference between the cases and the control groups in terms of biomarkers’ levels.2.There appears to be no statistically significant difference between the different treatment modalities.3.Our results also showed a high success rate with vital pulp therapy comparable to that of root canal treatment.Conclusions:1.Vital pulp therapy in permanent teeth with carious pulp exposure appears to be a promising treatment modality that helps maintain the natural dentition.2.Within the limitations of this study, there is no apparent correlation between biomarkers’ levels and the extension of inflammation in different Vital pulp therapy treatment modalities and Root canal treatment.
