Abstract Metal complexes have been widely used in different fields. Synthesis of such complexes can be achieved with the desired molecular geometry. These complexes often possess noticeable and individual electrochemical, photophysical and spectroscopic properties that can be exploited for analytical applications. Metal complexes are not only used in the field of analytical chemistry but also in other fields such as diagnosis and treatment. The activity of metal complexes has trigerred the development of metal complexes-based methods for determination of various analytes including drugs, metals, nucleic acid, large and small molecules in different analytical applications. In this thesis, innovative spectroscopic methods were developed for determination of selected food additives in various samples. The developed methods depend on the interaction between the analyte and iron (III) salicylate which is a metal complex by different mechanisms. These analytes can be determined by UV/Vis spectrophotometry and spectrofluorometry. These methods have the advantages of being simple, rapid, green and do not require any catalysis or heating. |
