Abstract This thesis is divided in to five chapters; Chapter one: Chapter one has studied the configuration of PV systems, PV stand-alone system for either DC or AC. This systems are applied for loads in remote area where no grid utility here is available. The second system is grid connected system where electric power generated by PV system is direct cabled to utility. Also, we studied energy consumption of standard refrigerator then, we review PV systems powered refrigerators. Chapter two: In chapter two we discussed the description of system component. Firstly, we discussed the block diagram of the system. Secondly, we review types of energy storage like. 1- Hydraulic energy storage. 2- Fuel cells. 3- Heat storage. Thirdly, Review the types of battery and theirs advantages and disadvantages. 1- Dry batteries. 2- Starting batteries. 3- Traction batteries. 4- Industrial batteries. And finally, we showed the capacity of battery, battery life , battery array interaction and battery charge controller. Chapter three: This chapter discusses the details of the equations describing the sun motion and solar irradiance at any time on a titled surface facing south in Cairo 30oN. We calculated the solar irradiance at any time in the year. We use the solar irradiance equations one can calculate the PV array output at any times during the year. Chapter four: Simulation program to calculate the instanteous performance PV system including PV models and storage batteries based on the model that depends on analysis given in chapter three. Chapter five: This chapter discusses the conclusion and future work. |
