Abstract Horizontal tears of the posterior horn of the medial meniscus of the knee joint are mainly related to degenerative changes, and as the present study shows, partial meniscectomy and nonoperative management both provide satisfactory clinical results. However, we found that arthroscopic meniscectomy for the treatment of a degenerative horizontal tear of the medial meniscus did not provide any significant advantage, relative to nonoperative management with strengthening exercises, in terms of the relief of knee pain, improved knee function, or increased satisfaction of patients after 2 to 5 years |
