Abstract

There are many glass systems that have applications due to their advantages like high optical absorption, ionic and electronic conductivity. Three groups of borosilicate glass were prepared by melt quenching technique at 1373K. The prepared samples were analyzed using XRD and FTIR spectroscopy. Optical properties of the obtained borosilicate glasses in the UV-VIS range were investigated. Urbach theory is used to analyze the optical data. The dc electrical conductivity was investigated for all samples in the temperature range from 298K to 700 K. The ac electrical conductivity was measured in the frequency range from 50 Hz to 2 MHz and temperature range from 298 to 523 K. Guntini’s theory is used to analyze the electrical data. To obtain a glass product that can be used to obtain a glass product that reduces the energy consumption inside the building to enhance the sense of thermal comfort inside the buildings
