Abstract

This study was conducted to evaluate the effect of tricalcium phosphate, novamin versus fluoride with different concentrations on the remineralization of enamel. In this study, 80 specimens were collected. They were soaked in a demineralizing solution to induce white spot lesions. Then they were randomly assigned to four groups (A) according to surface treatment, where (A1) colgate total; (A2) colgate previ dent 5000; (A3) sensodyne repair and protect, and (A4) Clinpro 5000. Each group was further divided into two subgroups according to application time. The microhardness values were measured using the digital display vickers micro-hardness tester. The results were statistically analyzed using one way-ANOVA. Results showed that in single application routine, high fluoride tooth paste recorded the highest microhardness value. After double application routine, novamin toothpaste recorded the highest. However, all the tested remineralizing toothpastes were successful in remineralization of the white spot lesions. Frequency of application was directly proportional with the remineralizing potentiality for all tested agents except for high fluoride group
