Abstract This work deals with plane stress finite element modeling for orthogonal cutting process of steel pipes ASTM A106 using computer program code (Abaqus/CAE). The main objective is simulation of the cutting process to extract the cutting forces and predict tool wear due to their vital role in machining. Two simulation models are presented; lagrangian and arbitrary lagrangian-eulerian (ALE) model and a comparison between their results are held. Also, johnson-cook model is used to define the material models. Experimental work is conducted on a center lathe using carbide tools to validate the simulation results |
