Abstract The aim of this study was to evaluate Ischemia-modified albumin (IMA) in patients with diabetes mellitus type 2, chronic renal failure under haemodialysis and hepatitis C infection.the present study included 15 normal healthy subjects(10 males and 5 females ), 15 pateints with type 2 diabetes mellitus (9 males and 6 females), 15 pateints under haemodialysis (10 males and 5 females) ,15 pateints with type 2 diabetes mellitus under haemodialysis (8 males and 7 females) and 15 patients with chronic hepatitis C virus infection (8 males and 7 females). The results showed that patients with haemodialysis had highly significant elevated mean levels of IMA followed by chronic hepatitis C patients followed by patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus and patients with type 2 diabetes under haemodialysis. There were significant positive correlation between IMA and both of creatinine and SGOT in patients with type2 diabetes mellitus. There were also significant positive correlation between IMA and CRP in pateints under haemodialysis, patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus under haemodialysis, and those with chronic hepatitis C virus infection. The combination of GOT, IMA, CRP and creatinine (GART) score was used to discriminate between some studied diseased groups at different cutoff values |
