Abstract The present study was aimed to evaluate the toxic effect of the new insecticide coragen (chlorantraniliprole) and to ameliorate those harmful effects by sweet wormwood (artemisia annua). Aerial parts of the plant (leaves and stems) were dried and extracted by ethanol/water mixture (1:1). The chemical composition of the plant were quantified total flavonoids.Total phenols and DPPH assay (2,2-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl hydrate) was used to measure the antioxidant capacity of the plant extract. Coragen with doses of 1/20, 1/40 and 1/60 LD50 were ingested into male albino rats and the alleviation of their toxic effects was done by Artemisia annua semi-modified diet and its aqueous ethanolic extract during experimental period 90 days. Evaluation was done by the liver function (AST, ALT activities, and bilirubin), kidneys function (urea and creatinine), protein profile (albumin, total protein and globulin),triglycride ,total cholesterol and total calcium. following a subchronic exposure. The results showed that moisture content of the fresh plant samples was 73.09%. Dried sample contained protein) 20.3% (lipids )18.75% (total soluble carbohydrates) 51.35% (and ash) 9.6% (DPPH assay was significantly high which indicated that the extract was likely to have a good antioxidant activity. The exposure of coragen into male albino rats leads to a significant increase in serum AST and ALT activities |
