The study was done on ninety patients with chronic HCV who received pegylated interferon and ribavirin .forty five patients were responders while the other half did not respond to therapy. In the current study, 48% of the patients had elevated ALT and AST also we found higher serum ferritin levels in responders than non responders. Using gender matched controls, we demonstrated that hepcidin concentrations are higher inresponders than non responders.
