Abstract In this study, two proposed modified carbon paste electrodes (CPE) with schiff bases or metal complexes as ionophore were described for determination of cobalt(II) and cadmium(II) ions in pure and real samples. The carbon paste electrodes were characterized and optimized with respect to the main experimental parameters affecting the electrode performance, including composition, pH, temperature, response time and interferences. The electrodes showed good selectivity for cobalt(II) and cadmium (II) ions with respect to some inorganic cations and anions. The developed electrodes have been used successfully for the determination of cobalt and cadmium in some real samples using calibration method. The obtained results were in good agreement with those obtained using the official method |
