Abstract

This is a randomized control study that was conducted on 50 patients presented with isolated tendon injuries that were scheduled for primary repair. Patients were assigned to two groups A and B. group A digits were injected with fat after tendon repair. Results demonstrated that group A patients had a mild better results on minimizing adhesions when compared to group B. New techniques and modifications have been introduced over the past years. Together with better understanding of the tendon anatomy, biomechanics and adhesion pathophysiology, suture design and rehabilitation programs have been modified to combat adhesions. Yet, the results, though improving, remained unsatisfactory, and adhesions remained the hallmark for tendon injuries. The randomized clinical study we have on our hands, compares the results of fat injection in repair of tendon injuries, the two groups of patients A and B, with only group A receiving fat injection during their surgery. Patients were followed up and the outcomes were recorded and compared as regards adhesion formation, return of function, and complication rates
