Abstract Atrial fibrillation is the most common arrhythmia (60% to 70%) following pulmonary resection. With an increased incidence of arrhythmias by increasing the extent of lung resection (pneumonectomy 60% versus lobectomy 40% versus non-resection thoracotomy 30%). Since the potential cause of the arrhythmias is the increased sympathetic tone associated with postoperative pain. Postoperative sympathetic blockade by controlling pain may reduce the occurrence of tachyarrhythmias after thoracic operations |
