Abstract

In the current study was carried out to evaluate the effect of Er, CR: YSGG laser, bioactive glass and their combination on the micro-hardness of demineralized of enamel white spot lesion after 24 hour and one month. Twenty teeth were divided into two groups of ten each that were randomly selected. In the first group micro-hardness was measured after 24 hour, while in the second group micro-hardness was measured after one month. Then each group was divided into five subgroups of ten each. The coronal portion of each tooth was divided into four standardized windows either on the buccal or the lingual surface. The micro- hardness was measured for the control group in all specimens before any demineralization was carried out. Then specimens were demineralized and the windows were divided into four types either negative control (demineralized), treated with bioactive glass, Er, CR: YSGG laser, or treated with both (bioactive glass and laser). Micro-hardness was measured for each subgroup after 24 hours and one month storage. The results showed that bioactive glass group after storage for 24hours showed the statistically significant highest mean micro-hardness value, followed by the combination and then laser alone when compared with the control and the demineralized group respectively with statistically significant difference at p {u02C2} 0.05. Micro-hardness of all groups except the control group decreased after storage for one month in the artificial saliva
