Abstract This thesis aims to study the morphological, biological and ecological structure of bivalves, explore their nutritional value by measuring the body composition, study the reproductive stages of bivalve (male and female) through histological and electron microscope studies and measure hydrocarbon concentrations (aliphatic and aromatic) during two different seasons to know whether bivalve is safe to be consumed by human. This study supported the fact that donax sp is the main source of cheap animal protein. This study advises to consume this animal during spring where the protein content is high. D. semistriatus is dioecious and no hermaphroditism was seen. |
