Abstract This study was conducted on 224 fish of marine fish from three different species that were represented as: Mugil cephalus, M. capitus, and M. seheli randomly collected from fish farms during the year 2015 in Damietta Governorate, Egypt. Most of the clinical signs of these fishes were clinically recorded, the P.M lesions associated with parasitic tests. The clinical examination revealed hemorrhagic spots in the areas of the head, abdomen, tail, around the mouth, anus, swelling, and minor abdominal and tail abrasions with ulcers. Some fishes showed loss of appetite, loss of body color, lazy swimming near the surface, erosion of fins, loss of balance, nervously swimming and eye bulging in some cases of crustacean affection on the caudal fin. The P.M examination revealed the presence of bleeding on most of the internal organs and inflammation of the intestines with food free and the presence of yellow or bloody mucus in cases of ascites and congestion of gills, gonads, liver, kidney and spleen. Some fishes showed paleness in gills and liver with presence of a large and massive congestion in the kidney and liver and showed the mosaic appearance on the gills. The high percentage was recorded in M. cephalus (92%) while it was (86.41%) in M. capitus and (72.41%) in M. seheli. The monogenetic trematodes (Dactylogyrus sp.), digenetic trematodes (Haplosplanchnus caudatus and Vitellibaculum girelia), Trichodina sp.,Crustacean (Caligus sp. and Isopoda sp.) and acanthocephalan (Neoechinorhynchus sp.) were isolated. Parasitic infestation rates for each species, seasonal prevalence and histopathological picture were recorded. |
