Abstract

Over the last decades, nanoparticles engineering has been developed and reported for pharmaceutical applications to solve many problems such as poor drug solubility and consequently limited bioavailability. Nanosuspension is one of the promising nanosizing technique that can be used for enhancing the saturation solubility and dissolution rate of poorly water soluble drugs. Nanosuspensions are submicron colloidal dispersion of pure drug particles in a liquid phase stabilized by polymeric or ionic stabilizer or mixture of both. Nanosuspensions have been incorporated into many diverse pharmaceutical dosage forms by virtue of their ability to be converted into solid nanocrystals via different drying processes. In the recent years, many of the pharmaceutical researches are focusing on innovative drug delivery system to improve the safety, efficacy and patient compliance. Among these systems are oral fast dissolving films (FDFs). Oral fast dissolving films are advanced version of oral solid dosage form with high flexibility. It improves the efficacy of APIs by dissolving within minute in oral cavity after the contact with small volume saliva as compared to fast dissolving tablets, without chewing or swallowing by the aid of water. These films have a potential to deliver the drug systemically through intra-gastric, sublingual or buccal route of administration and also have been used for local action
