Abstract

This thesis comprises three chapter including three main parts; theoretical review (provided in chapter one), descriptive analysis (provided in chapter two) and an econometric assessment (provided in chapter three), Finally, the concluding remarks and suggested policy implications.Dealing with the latest empirical pieces of evidence to clarify the issues in the debates of the macroeconomic Effects of Fiscal policy, the first chapter provides a comprehensive literature review of the evolution of the macroeconomic effects of fiscal policy in the economic theory based on the analysis of thesis, anti-thesis and the synthesisthat domains the mainstream economics, last but not least it discusses the empirical pieces of evidence regarding the effects of fiscal policy in the developed and the developing countries. The second chapter descriptively analyzes the levels and the structure of the Egyptian fiscal policy, and the development of its role in the Egyptian economy. Then, the study turns to the empirical assessment of the Egyptian fiscal policy that is presented in the third chapter. And since the Macroeconomic effects of fiscal policy typically include the effects of government spending and government revenues on the (economic growth, inflation, interest rate, private investment, and private consumption), the study adopts two alternative identification approaches for its adopted SVAR models (3-variable SVAR model, 5-variable SVARs model, Two-6-variable SVAR model), investigatingthe effects of government expenditure and tax revenue on macroeconomic variables (GDP, GDP components- private consumption and private investment -, prices, employment and interest rates)
