Abstract Planning and following up for project schedules are integral parts of sound management which help to achieve project objectives. Although the process of making decisions in that regard is standardized to a great extent, the strategies which are used to cope with the effect of uncertain events due to external factors depend on project circumstances. In Egypt, managing natural gas pipeline construction projects faced many challenges due to unpredictable risks and major security issues that faced Egypt in recent years. This research discusses the effect of external factors on the schedules of three ongoing gas pipeline construction projects and demonstrates how to deal with their negative effect using suitable decision support tools. This thesis demonstrates that a well-defined management process, with the aid of suitable decision support tools, helps in decreasing the effect of unfortunate events on the schedules for gas pipeline construction projects in Egypt |
