Abstract Background:Invasive duct carcinoma no specific type (NST) or not otherwise specified (NOS) is the most common type of IDC. It constitutes about 40%{u2013}75% of all mammary invasive carcinomas and lymph node metastases occurs in about 64.9% of cases. Determining Her-2/neu gene status nowadays is essential as it has a diagnostic and prognostic impact. In addition to tumor cells hormonal receptors expression, Her-2/neu gene is an important factor in determining the patient’s protocol of treatment. Material and Methods: Paraffin embedded formalin fixed 50 breast tumor specimens were obtained from the pathology department, NCI. Her-2/neu gene was assessed on both primary tumor and synchronous axillary lymph node metastatic deposits using FISH analysis. Results: There was concordance between the Her-2/neu gene in both the primary tumor and metastatic deposits. Conclusions: Her-2/neu tests can be applied either on the primary tumor or its corresponding metastatic deposits at the setting of first diagnosis |
