Abstract This thesis discusses the design of themodel predictive control (MPC)for collective pitch control (CPC) in wind energy conversion systems. The main targetof the CPC is to regulate the generator speed to be at the rated value in order to harvest the rated generator power. Three MPC strategies are designed. They are the fuzzy MPC, discrete-time tube-based explicit MPC and continuous-time tube-based explicit MPC. The proposed CPC is coupled with a PI controller for individual pitch control to reduce the fatigue loads affecting the turbine blades |
