Abstract This study was conducted to evaluate the biomechanics of mandibular 2All on three3 protocol comparing it to the 2All on four3 design using three dimensional finite element analysis. Two finite element analysis mandibular anatomical models were created. Implants were placed virtually in the mandibular lateral incisor and second premolar region bilaterally in the 2All on four3 model and in the midline and bilaterally in the second premolar region for 2All on three3 design. Screw retained acrylic prosthesis was designed on the CAD/CAM machine for the purpose of immediate loading. Vertical and oblique loading were applied simulating opposing maxillary complete denture. Static Loads of 160 N were applied vertically on the central fossae and obliquely with an angle of 20{u00B0}to the lingual slopes of the buccal cusps of fourth quadrant{u201F}s posterior denture teeth for both models. Von Mises stresses and equivalent strains generated in the peri-implant bone, von Mises stresses in the implants and maximum vertical displacement of the prosthesis were recorded. The biomechanics of the 2All on three3 is less favorable than the 2All on four3, however both protocols can be used safely when opposed by maxillary complete dentures |
