Abstract

Aim:to evaluate the bond strength of ormocer based resin composite using conventional versus ormocer based etch and rinse adhesives to dentin using microtensile bond strength test and to assess tooth restoration interface using environmental scanning electron microscope (ESEM). Materials and methods: A total 66 premolars were collected and divided into two main groups according to type of adhesive system used either ormocer based adhesive system or conventional one, each group was further divided into three subgroups according to storage time either 24 hrs, one or three month.Teeth were sectionnedto beams; and these beams were subjected to microtensile bond strength using a universal testing machine. Then the fractured specimens were collected and examined under EnviromentalScaning Electron Microscope (ESEM) to analyze modes of failure. Results: The result of current study showed that ormocer based adhesive recorded the highest significant mean microtensile bond strength value compared to conventional one. Also, regarding storage period, it was found that in both adhesives the 24 hrs group showed highest mean microtensile bond value strength followed by one Month and the least value recorded after three Months
