Abstract The thesis represents an attempt to solve one of the problems of standard cosmology, the accelerating expansion of the Universe. We begin with a critical review of the general theory of relativity and its standard cosmology. Also, we give a critical discussion of some of the problems of standard cosmology, including the problem that we attempt to solve. This is followed by a discussion of theories constructed in spaces with non-vanishing torsion, especially f(T) theories. We also discuss a sample of the cosmological applications of such theories. The last part of the theories is devoted to an attempt to solve the accelerating expansion problem. This attempt is carried out by constructing a world model of Bianchi type I in the context of f(T) theories. The main results of this work are published in joint paper [72] |
