Abstract The study area is located in the western part of the Abu Gharadig Basin in the North Western Desert of Egypt. The overriding purpose of this study is to built-up a depositional model and investigate the reservoir characteristics for Late Cenomanian Abu Roash 2G3 Member in the Sitra Field, to aid in better understanding of the reservoir depositional environments and prediction of best sandstone depositional areas hoping for future hydrocarbon prospecting and exploration. Facies analysis of the available cores, result in subdivision of the upper Abu Roash 2G3 member into six facies associations with distinct vertical and lateral relations. The constructed stratigraphic section illustrates some of the characteristics of back-barrier lagoonal setting. Facies architecture based on key stratigraphic surfaces indicate that the upper Abu Roash 2G3 could be subdivided into four transgressive sedimentary cycles within a transgressive system tract. The 1st and 3rd sedimentary cycles represent the main reservoirs in this field |
