Abstract

In this work, the delayed effect of fixed dose-different photon energies and dose rates on male albino rat{u2019}s blood was studied. Eighty male albino rats were equally divided into 8 groups namely A, B, C, D, E, F, G and H. group A was used as control and was not exposed to any type of radiation. Animals of group B, C, D, E, F, G and H were whole body exposed to the same radiation dose with different energies and dose rates then left for a period of 45 days away of any radiation field (similar to the control group A). The erythrocyte membrane properties in all animal groups were tested by measuring osmotic fragility and solubility with non-ionic detergent in addition to measuring some biochemical parameters while the direct effect study was published out of this article. The results indicated that the effective dose is not the same for the same absorbed dose. The delayed effect study showed permanent effect of radiation and it was obvious that the low energy radiation is more biologically effective than higher one. Moreover the measured parameters are dependent on both dose rate and photon energy
