Abstract This study was conducted to evaluate the influence of different thickness of nanofilled resin composite and nanofilled glass ionomer restorative materials on its color and translucency. A total of sixty disc shaped specimens of 5 mm in diameter were prepared using a specially constructed hollow cylindrical copper mold with different movable bottoms which was used to produce specimens with the same diameter but with different thickness of 1, 1.5 and 2 mm thicknesses. 30 specimens were prepared from shade (A3) nanofilled resin composite; Filtek{u2122} Supreme XT, (3M, ESPE) and the other 30 were prepared from shade (A3) of nano-Ionomer restorative material, ketac{u2122} N100 (3M, ESPE). from each restorative material 10 specimens were prepared from each thickness (1, 1.5, 2 mm).The specimens were cured using (Ivoclar vivadent) bluephase C5 light curing unit. The colorimetric values (L*, a* and b*) were measured using the spectrophotometer (UV-shimadzu 3101 pc-spectrophotometer) and the translucency was measured using the luminous diffuse transmittance (optical translucency) equation. Data was analyzed using two-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) and Tukey{u2019}s post hoc test |
