Abstract

The Eating Disorder Examination is a semi structured interview which has been developed as a measure of the specific psychopathology of anorexia nervosa and bulimia nervosa. To establish its discriminant validity. The Eating Disorder Examination provides clinicians and research workers with a detailed and comprehensive profile of the psychopathological features of patients with eating disorders.
 The Prevalence of Eating Disorder using Eating Attitude Test (EAT40), EAT test being a self-report test needed to see a mental health professional for diagnosis and treatment of anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa and other eating disorders. Prevalence of Eating Disorder was 3.3% (2.8% for urban and 3.8% of rural students) in girls’ school in Zagazig, Egypt by Eating Attitude Test (EAT).
 Culture by semi-structured will detect different changes in the definitions in different psychopathologies in these bulimia and binge eating disorders’ patients. The difficulties described above could be overcome with the use of a standardized interview. Such an interview would have to be semi structured so as to provide flexibility without sacrificing reliability, and all key terms would need to be defined.
 So, this study aimed to detect the validity and reliability of EDE scale in Egyptian culture and the relation between social demographic data of patients with eating disorders pattern in Egypt. Also, to estimate the rate of occurrence of eating disorders in Kafr El-Sheikh governorate preparatory and secondary school students.
 This was a cross-sectional analytical study on 388 preparatory and secondary school students by stratified random sampling technique.
The study was conducted at sample Kafr El-Sheikh preparatory and secondary male and female school students (governmental and non-governmental).
