Abstract

Two field experiments were carried out in 2016/2017 and 2017/2018 seasons at Etay El-Baroud research station, El-Beheira governorate, Egypt Agriculture Research Center, to study the effect of three planting methods (M1=Growing sugar beet on wide ridges (120cm width) on both sides in hills at distances 20cm between it and thinned at one plant per hill (population density 35000 plant per feddan) and growing wheat on the wide of the all ridges at hills 10cm apart, M2=Growing sugar beet on ridges (60cm narrow) on the first side, in hills at distances 20cm between it and thinned at the one plant per hill (population density 35000 plant per feddan) and growing wheat on the top and second side at hill 10cm apart of one sugar beet ridge, alternating with one solid sugar beet ridge and M3=Growing sugar beet on rides (60cm narrow) on first side in hills at distances 20cm between it and thinned at one plant per hill (population density 35000 plant per feddan) and growing wheat on the top and second side at hills 10cm apart of the all ridges) and four intercropping densities of wheat sugar beet (D1=3.750 Kg grain per feddan from the seeding rate of feddan which was it 60 Kg (6.25%), D2=7.500 Kg grain per feddan from seeding rate of feddan which was it 60 Kg (12.5%), D3=15 Kg grain per feddan from seeding rate of feddan which was it 60 Kg (25%), D4=30 Kg gain per feddan from seeding rate of feddn which was it 60 Kg (50%), as well as along with two solid checks of both crops. The split plot design with four replications were used in both seasons.
