The study aims to identify the plastic capabilities of paper material to highlight the aesthetic and plastic value of the decorative plate, and the study of the material of paper was discussed because of its wide-ranging cultural importance, because it is flexible, diverse and stimulating materials to work with for a variety of purposes, in addition to the availability of many types of it, which are suitable For various purposes, it is one of the most interesting raw materials that can be dealt with due to its richness in its colors, its plastic capabilities, its own characteristics, and its susceptibility to many methods. And its aesthetic richness in textures and various color effects on different surfaces, and also it can be used to discover the plastic dimensions and its different potential. Chapter One : This chapter deals with the background of the research that shows the importance of paper material, and its plastic capabilities in the field of decorative design, in addition to the research problem and its presentation in the form of questioning. Chapter Two : The definition of the raw paper “papyrus” is represented in the history and papermaking in China and the Islamic lands, papermaking in Europe and America, and papermaking methods, which are divided into methods of manual papermaking, and papermaking automatically is divided into two methods (mechanical - chemical) Specifications of good paper and the types of paper, which are (Magazine paper, Newspapers, kraft... and others). Chapter Three : This chapter deals with the technical and plastic characteristics of paper material, the plastic capabilities, and the shaping methods, which are represented in the dry shaping methods, which are paper cutting and paper rolling, and the wet shaping methods represented by paper pulp and the flexibility of this material in shaping. And how the paper material was employed in the decorative painting and shed light on many artists towards the formation of paper material and used it to enrich the decorative painting.
