Abstract

1. INTRODUCTION
In Egypt, mango (Mangifera indica L.) occupies the third place in acreage after citrus and grapes. Mango fruits are desirable and popular fruits for the Egyptian consumers due to its good flavour, delicious taste, nutritive value and other fruit attractive features (El-Said, 2006).
The most famous types of Egyptian mangoes are Owais, excellent sugary mango, white sugary, mango Zibdia, and Sinara, as well as other famous types of mangoes. Egypt exports mango, namely the Tymor, Awees, Indian, AlFons, Zibdia, Sukaria, Kit and Senara types, to several European countries Mona 2017.
Egypt produces 232,000 ton of mangos annually and exports moderate amounts (1500 tones) to 20 countries in the near East and Europe (FAO, 2000). It is expected that commercial and backyard plantings of mango trees will continue to increase (Haggag 2010).
Mango plant suffers from a number of pests and diseases at all stages of development i.e. right from nursery stage to grown-up tree stage. Even fruits at pre-harvest stages are affected making them unsuitable for marketing and export .Some of the mango pests as reported by different authors include; beetles, fruit flies, red banded thrips, mango tip borer, scales and seed weevil (Verghese ( 2000), Barbara and Bradley (2012), Fita (2014) and Nankinga et.al (2014)
