Abstract The thesis is divided into four parts Part I: It includes a general introduction about cardiovascular diseases cardiovascular drugs, advantages of fixed dose combinations, and a brief description of the theories of the developed spectrophotometric methods for multicomponent analysis. Part II: New spectrophotometric methods for simultaneous determination of amlodipine and valsartan This part is composed of two chapters; Chapter 1 includes an introduction about the physicochemical properties of amlodipine (AML) and valsartan (VAL) and a review of literature about the analytical methods reported for estimation of both drugs in single form, in different combinations, or in biological fluids. Chapter 2 includes validated spectrophotometric methods for simultaneous determination of amlodipine (AML) and valsartan (VAL) in their tablets. These methods are; absorption correction method (ACM) and dual wavelength method (DWM). The developed methods were published in Journal of Advanced Medical and Pharmaceutical Research (J Adv Med Res., 2021, 2, 48-55). Part III: New spectrophotometric methods for simultaneous determination of felodipine and metoprolol This part is consisted of two chapters; Chapter 1 includes an introduction about the physicochemical properties of felodipine (FEL) and metoprolol (MET) and a review of literature about the analytical methods reported for estimation of both drugs in a single form, in different combinations or in biological samples. Chapter 2 includes validated spectrophotometric methods for simultaneous determination of felodipine (FEL) and metoprolol (MET) in their tablet. The developed methods are absorption correction method (ACM), induced dual-wavelength method (IDWM), and absorbance ratio method (Q-analysis). PART IV: Validated spectrophotometric methods for simultaneous determination of atorvastatin and amlodipine This part is composed of two chapters; Chapter 1 includes an introduction about the physicochemical properties of atorvastatin (ATO) and a review of literature about the analytical methods reported for estimation of both drugs in single form and in different combinations. Chapter 2 includes validated spectrophotometric methods for determination of amlodipine (AML) and atorvastatin (ATO) in their tablet. The methods include isosebestic point method and area under the curve method (AUC). |
