Abstract

This work was conducted for studying the effect of deficiency of some trace elements “Cu, Fe, Zn and Se” on ”clinical signs, hematology and biochemical status” in diseased sheep compared with the apparently healthy sheep. In addition, the evaluation of some antioxidant enzymes in sheep suffering from trace elements deficiency.
A total number of 90 sheep were selected from different areas of Sharkia Governorate 70 of them suffering from trace elements deficiency and 20 sheep were apparently healthy sheep used for comparison.
Clinical examination was done on all sheep with special attention to temperature, pulse, respiration rate, ruminal movement, skin elasticity, wool status, state of appetite, general body condition, gait and posture.
Blood samples were taken from all sheep for haematological and biochemical studies, skin scrapings to decide the presence or absence of external parasites were performed from the sheep suffering from alopecia. Fecal examination was performed, samples from ration were taken for determination of the level of trace elements.
