Abstract

Background: Today’s the main problem faced by any organization is how to provide an environment that facilitates the development of emotional bonds between members in order to keep talented employees. Aim: Assess the impact of organizational justice on the performance appraisal process and commitment among staff nurses at Al Mansura oncology hospital. Design: descriptive / correlational design was utilized in conducting this study. Sample: Convenient sample of (121) Staff nurses who agreed to participate in the research and met the inclusion criteria were included. Tool: data was collected by using Semi Structure Interview Questionnaires to assess the impact of organizational justice on the performance appraisal process and commitment among staff nurses at Al Mansura oncology hospital. Result: the current study revealed that; the majority of nurses had low agreement regarding total performance appraisal (70.2%), and they had low satisfaction regarding performance appraisal system. More than two third (71,1%), had agreement regarding emotional commitment, continuance commitment and normative commitment respectively. Conclusion: There was a statistically positive correlation between organizational justice and satisfaction with performance appraisal as well as fairness. There was a statistically positive correlation between organizational justice and organization commitment. Recommendation: hospital administration must implement fair performance appraisal system and improve organizational justice to increase nurse’s satisfaction and commitment
