Abstract

Aim of the work: To evaluate the efficacy of the endoscopic-assisted permeatal transperforation push through myringoplasty by assessing the graft take rate and hearing results. Patients and methods: Twenty patients were randomly to do endoscopic assisted permeatal transperforation myringoplasty. Results: In this study, the case is considered to be ’’successful’’ if there are complete healing of the tympanic membrane and improvement of hearing postoperatively, graft success rates were 85% with P value 0.132, average air-bone gap (A-B gap) preoperative was 18.20, average A-B gap 1 months postoperative was 7.75. Conclusion : comparison to microscopic : endoscopic views revealed superior visualization and operability of the endoscopic approach as transcanal endoscopic myringoplasty does not require surgical exposure such as a retroauricular skin incision to get an anterior view, less bleeding, a short operation time, ease of application, and no need for postoperative care. Our results demonstrated that transcanal push thtough endoscopic myringoplasty can be performed, regardless of the perforation size and the narrowness and/or protrusion of external ear canal.
