Abstract Background: Grip strength measurement reflect overall hand function also considered an indicator of general health. Purpose: The aims of the study were to detect norm values of grip strength in preschool children, Methods: Samples included 636 normal preschool age children from both genders, ranged from 3{u2265}6 years. They assigned into three age groups, 3{u2265}4, 4{u2265}5 and 5{u2265}6 years. Bulb Dynamometer was used to assess the spherical grip strength, Weight and height scale to measure weight in kilogram and hieght in centimeters, and tape measurement was used to evaluate the anthropometric measures in cm of participated children. Result: The results of the present study showed, in age from 3{u2265}6 years old, the grip strength for the dominant hand were 26.87±6.77 kPa, 29.78± 8.43 kPa and 38.04± 8.55 kPa for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd group, respectively. However, in non-dominant hand the calculated grip strength were, 25.03±7.19 kPa., 28.13± 8.43 kPa and 33.74 ± 8.14 kPa, respectively. The grip strength in dominant hand was greater than non-dominant in all age groups. There was a significant increase in the boys{u2019} dominant and non-dominant hand grip strength compared with that of girls. There were observed moderate positive significant correlations between grip strength and weight, height, FC, FL, HC and HL in dominant and non-dominant hand |
