Abstract The study aimed at comparing the density of bone formed after sinus lifting and augmentation with Nanobone graft to that of the newly formed bone after non-augmented sinus lifting with tenting technique. Patients and Methods: Twelve patients with unilateral or bilateral totally or partially edentulous maxillae involving the premolar/molar regions were randomly selected from the outpatient clinic of the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Department, Faculty of Oral and Dental Medicine, Cairo University. Results: The present study included twelve patients with atrophy of the posterior maxillary alveolar process and pneumatized maxillary sinus with available bone height of 5 mm under the sinus. The male to female ratio was five: seven, with average age of 45 years. The cases were categorized into two groups, group 1 have undergone augmented maxillary sinus lifting with Nanobone while group 2 have undergone Non-augmented sinus lifting. Conclusion: There is significant increase in density of bone formed after augmented sinus lifting with Nanobone more than that of newly formed bone after non-augmented sinus lifting in the first nine months after the maxillary sinus lifting operation with simultaneous implants placement |
