The study dealt with the subject of alternative measurements in terms of the correlation between the indicators of alternative measurements and the number of reference citations for the scientific productivity of researchers at the Universities of Cairo and Mansoura. It also dealt with the subject of university rankings in order to compare the position of the two universities in the most famous international rankings of universities, and it aimed to achieve the following: Identifying alternative measurements in terms of their origin and development, their importance and their uses, monitoring the location of Cairo and Mansoura universities in the most famous international rankings of universities, determining the objective, qualitative, temporal and geographic characteristics...etc. for the scientific productivity of researchers in the two universities in the Scopus and Wos databases, and finally determining the correlation between Alternative measurement indicators and traditional measurement indicators (reference citations) by applying to the scientific productivity of researchers at Cairo and Mansoura Universities published in the WOS database, In that, it followed the bibliographic and survey method (descriptive and analytical), and reached several results, including: The spread of the social web led to a revolution in the field of measuring scientific activity, which was represented in alternative measurements, the universities of Cairo and Mansoura occupied distinct positions in the international rankings of universities during many years. In the study, Cairo University outperformed Mansoura University in terms of the volume of scientific productivity published in the Scopus and Web of Science bases. Both Mendeley and Twitter are the most used sites by researchers to share research at Cairo University, while Mansoura University was the most used site, Cite U Like. It also found that there are positive statistically significant correlations between the indicators of alternative measurements and the number of reference citations, and it recommended the necessity of holding workshops on an ongoing basis for Arab researchers in order to urge them and encourage them to publish international scientific, mixing alternative measurements with traditional measurements to provide correct and clear results regarding the Impact assessment for academic researchers and universities, encouraging collaborative work and social networking among researchers and introducing them to academic social media platforms.
