المستخلص Leadership succession planning at universities is important to invest in public relations, ensure stability, and avoid potential leadership gaps. The present study aimed to develop a proposal to select university leaders at public universities based on the leadership succession planning approach. The researcher adopted the descriptive approach and developed and applied a questionnaire to 1260 participants of the university leaders, faculty members, administrative leaders, and staff members in some Egyptian public universities. The study concluded: - Building a permanent program to evaluate the methods of selecting university leaders. - Conducting regular programs in all fields to develop the skills and leadership and administrative capabilities of employees to build a second line of leaders. - Carrying out continuous monitoring by leaders to determine the future needs of vacant leadership positions. - Adopting principles and criteria in selecting university leaders instead of patronage and loyalty. - Disseminating the culture of transparency in information as a criterion for selecting university leaders. - selecting leaders based on marriage between recruiting and appointment on-campus and off-campus. |
