Abstract

Under-reamed piles are deep bored cast-in-situ concrete piles having single or multi bulbs molded by enlarging the pile shaft at different locations from the pile tip with various ream diameters. Such piles are best suited in soils where significant ground movements appear because of seasonal variations, filed up grounds, in soft soil layers and loose sand. The merits of provision of under-reamed bulbs are the reduction of displacement and improving the bearing and uplift capacities. Also, it provides better anchorage at greater depths.
