Abstract

The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of foliar application of amino acids,nano micro-elements and bio-stimulants on growth, yield and essential oil of marjoram plants, in two seasons (2017/2018 and 2018/2019).The results obtained can be summarized in the following:1. Effect of amino acids: The obtained data showed that, in both seasons, most of amino acids treatments significantly increased No. of branches/plant in both cuts.The average fresh and dry weights of herb/plant in the second cut was heavier than in the first cut. Phenyl alanine and methionine treatments gave the heaviest weights of herb, in the first season and tryptophan and methionine in the second one.Treating plants with amino acids increased the contents of total carbohydrates and pigments. In the first season, the oil % was significantly higher than in the second one.The application of phenyl alanine and methionine gave the highest essential oil %,yield and main component. 2. Effect of bio-stimulants:Bio-stimulators significantly increased the growth attributes of marjoram plants(plant height, No. of branches, weights of herb,oil % and yield).In the first cut, spraying plants with chitosan and alga gave the tallest plants then sodium para nitro phenolate and potassium humate.In the second cut, treating plants with P.H. gave the tallest plants, followed by (SNP) and alga.Chitosan was the most effective for increasing oil %, oil yield. GC-MS analysis revealed that terpinen-4-ol was the first major compound in both cuts,it was maximum in oil of plants sprayed with chitosan and SNP.3. Effect of nano micro-elements:Data showed that plant height increased with the nano-Zn, Mn and Fe treatments.All nano-treatments increased No.of branches, and nano-Zn, nano-Mn at (100ppm) formed more branches. Treating marjorana plants nano-Zn at 100 ppm increased the plant fresh weight, in both cuts
