Abstract Electronic Portal Image Devices (EPIDs) are important tool in radiotherapy which helps in decreasing setup errors of patients during treatment and work as a dosimetric tool in Intensity Modulated Radiotherapy and Volumetric Modulated Arc Techniques (IMRT and VMAT).The aim of this study is to compare between two types of EPID (a-Si500 and a- Si1000) in physical properties. Physical properties of both panels including linearity with dose, field size dependence, ghosting effect, assessment of the multileaf collimator (MLC) and arm backscattering are studied. Both types of EPIDs are calibrated and assessed to be essential tool for patient positioning verification before treatment. Both panels are working well and there are no significant differences between them except in ghosting effect and arm backscattering |
