Abstract
This study aimed to evaluate the impact of T2DM on progression of CHC infection by assessing glucose blood levels (Random, Fasting and Postprandial) in patients with CHC (some with liver fibrosis and other with liver cirrhosis) compared to healthy controls. Also, we aimed to evaluate the association between glucose levels and some biochemical, hematological and virological parameters. this study highlighted the strong association between T2DM, elevated blood glucose levels and fibrosis activity in CHC patients. DM promotes fibrosis in these patients and it represents a fibrosis risk factor. High glucose levels were associated with biochemical (liver enzymes, bilirubin and albumin levels), hematological (haemoglobin, red blood cells and platelets count) and virological (HCV antibody titer) parameters that related to chronic liver diseases.
