Praise be to God, Lord of the Worlds, and prayers and peace be upon the most honorable messengers, our master Muhammad and all his family and companions. As for what follows:
Sibawayh’s book is one of the most important books written in Arabic and its sciences. Because it represents the beginning of the completed composition in the sciences of grammar, morphology and language, Abu Othman Al-Mazini (d. 249 AH) said about it: (Whoever wants to make a large book in grammar after Sibawayh, let him be shy).
Al-Mubarrad (d. 286 AH) used to say to anyone who wanted to read the book to him: (Did you ride the sea?)
Therefore, the subject of this study was (what was attributed to Sibawayh in the works of grammarians of the third and fourth centuries AH, its types and documentation), and it aims to trace the sayings and opinions attributed to Sibawayh in the bellies of many grammatical works, which included (fifteen) grammatical authors starting with (Al-Munsef Explanation of Imam Abi Al-Fath Othman Bin Jinni to the Book of Al-Tasrif by Imam Abi Al-Fath Othman Al-Mazini Al-Nahwi Al-Basri), (d. 247 AH), and ending with (Al-Muhtasib in explaining and clarifying the faces of the odd readings, by Abu Al-Fath Othman Bin Jinni), (d. 392 AH), which are the sources that It fell before me, so this study came to deal with those views in the bellies of these books, trying to achieve what was attributed to him in his text, and what was attributed to him with its meaning, and what was attributed to him from it and did not appear in his book, intending to stand on it to clarify it and indicate its attribution; By referring to Sibawayh’s book, and looking into it; To indicate the extent of the validity of its attribution to him, and what is not true by proving that with evidence and arguments that support it.
I relied on my study when tracing these sayings and opinions on the copy of the investigator Abdel Salam Haroun
