Abstract

Autism spectrum disorders ASDs are serious, biologically neurodevelopmental disability of brain characterized by persistent core impairments in social communication and interaction, restricted interests, and repetitive behaviors and activities. Symptoms typically appear in the first 2:3 years of life. According to the autism and developmental disabilities monitoring network of the Centers for Disease Control CDC, 1 in 54 eightyears old children is diagnosed with ASDs. Although ASDs affects both sexes, it is four to five times higher in males.1, 2 The etiology of autism is not fully understood; however, it is probably the interaction between genetics and environment. It is unknown whether the neurological defects are primary in nature or if another system is the primary cause and affecting the neurological system. It showed a variety of abnormalities, not only in the neurological system but also, in the immune and digestive systems. Decreased antioxidant enzymes ( superoxide dismutase and glutathione) levels and increased oxidative stress may play a role in the pathology pathway besides genetic inheritance as one of the main risk factors.3, 4
