Abstract The present study aims for the isolation of a promising melanin-producing strain from Egyptian marine habitat and the optimization of production conditions in order to maximize the obtained yield.Different Water and sediment samples were collected from solar saltern in Egypt Alexandria international coastal road), and were used for isolation of melanin producing marine microorganisms.Five melanized isolates appeared to have dark brown to black colored colonies on SDA supplemented with L-tyrosine and 10% sodium chloride were obtained. It was observed that AS1 isolate from marine sediment showed the highest yield in both biomass and melanin production recording 9.3 g/L and 0.420 g/L, respectively, only under shaking conditions 180rpm). |
