Abstract Favorable outcomes have been reported for rotator cuff debridement in the setting of massive tears. The technique includes arthroscopic debridement of the torn cuff, subacromial bursectomy with limited acromioplasty. Biceps tenotomy or tenodesis is important as it is a pain generator in the shoulder in the setting of rotator cuff disease. The coracoacromial arch should be preserved to prevent superior migration of the humeral head in the setting of massive RCT. The aim of this work is to evaluate the management of chronic massive rotator cuff tear by the previous technique. During the period from October 2018 to January 2021, we conducted a prospective study to assess functional outcome of arthroscopic debridement, subacromial decompression and biceps tenotomy without repair for patients with Massive RCT tears. The study included 23 patients with Massive RCT tears who underwent arthroscopic debridement. Our inclusion criteria were adult patients with chronic massive tears, daily and nocturnal pain not necessary in a continuous fashion, failure of a 6-month period of conservative measures with affection of the Strength and range of motion |
