Abstract Background: Plantar fasciitis is one of the most common foot pain disorders in athletes and non-athletes.There is pain in the plantar side of the foot especially in the heel at the insertion of the fascia. Purpose: This study was conducted to investigate the effect of Myofascial release in management of plantar fasciitis. Subjects: Forty five patients aged from 30-50 years with mean age (42.8) from both gender, were classified randomly into three groups with equal numbers. Material and methods:(group A) consisted of 15 patients who received Myofascial release, in addition to US for 4 weeks consecutively, (group B) consisted of 15 patients who received only Myofascial release for 4 weeks consecutively. (group C) consisted of 15 patients who received only U.S for 4 weeks consecutively. Visual analogue Scale (VAS), ankle dorsiflexion range of motion (ROM) and foot functional disability (FFI) were measured pre- and post-treatment. Results: There was significant difference (P<0.0001) among the three groups (A, B and C) post treatment for all studied variables in favor of group (A). Conclusion: Myofascial release in addition to ultrasonic therapy is considered as an effective method in improving pain, range of motion and foot functional disability in patients with plantar fasciitis |
