Abstract Ceramics have been the backbone of esthetic dentistry for more than 100 years. The qualitative improvements provided ceramic materials with many advantages over the porcelain-fused-to metal (PFM) system. Glassceramics have superior optical natural esthetic appearance, excellent optical properties, wear resistance, biocompatibility longevity of esthetic restorations are considered major aims in restoring teeth with single crowns, With increasing popularity of computeraided design/computer-aided manufacturing (CAD/CAM), rising number of machinable esthetic materials have been introduced in the market.2,3 Continuous improvements were done to improve mechanical and esthetic properties of dental ceramics resulting in the production of dozens of products for the clinician to choose from according to the clinical situation. |
