Introduction to the study:
The development of a culture of community participation in its various dimensions is one of the most important requirements that members of society need at the moment, the development of a culture of community participation in its various dimensions has become the responsibility of all educational institutions, through each institution to play its role towards the development of those dimensions, and comes at the forefront of these institutions media where the media has its various means and especially visual through its cultural programs an important role towards the development of the culture of community participation. In its different dimensions, due to the widespread and influential means and their ability to address all segments of society.
University education students are an advanced vanguard of society, because they are the trained, specialized and the foundation for making comprehensive changes in different areas of life, and they are the basis of the country’s renaissance and progress, which calls for the concerted national efforts to develop a culture of community participation in its different dimensions; Science and knowledge stem from here the idea of research.
Statement of The problem:
The current study problem was identified in an attempt to reveal the educational role of some television programs - cultural programs - in developing a culture of community participation in its different dimensions among university students, in order to develop a proposed vision through which the educational role of cultural television programs
can be activated in the development of a culture of community participation in its different dimensions among university students.
In the light of these data, the current study attempted to answer the following main question:
_What is the reality of the educational role of some television programs in developing the culture of community participation among university students?.
The following sub-questions were branched out of this question by the Chair:
1- What is tv shows? And what’s her historical development?.
2- What are the patterns of TV shows? What are its most important functions? What are its most important societal objectives?.
3- What is the culture of community participation? What are their most important actors in society?.
4- What roles are hoped for from cultural television programs in developing a culture of community participation among university students?.
5- What are the roles of cultural television programs in developing a culture of community participation among university students?.
6- What is the proposed vision of activating the educational role of cultural television programs in developing a culture of community participation among university students?.
Objectives of the study:
The current study aimed to identify the educational role of some television programs in developing the culture of community participation among university students, in addition to trying to present a proposed vision through which the educational role of cultural television programs can be activated in the development of the culture of community participation in its various aspects among university students, and to achieve this goal it was necessary to achieve the following goals:
1- Learn about the concept of television programs and the historical development of them.
2- Identifying the patterns of television programs, their most important functions and their most important community objectives.
3- Identify what the culture of community participation is and its importance, and its most important aspects in society.
4- Identify the most important roles hoped for by cultural television programs in developing a culture of community participation among university students.
The importance of the study:
The importance of the current study stems from:
1- It addresses a vital theme, the ”culture of community participation among university students”, as young people besides education are the backbone of Egyptian society, the basis of any development and progress, and the country’s tool to reach the ranks of developed countries.
2- The results of this study may help to strengthen the positive aspects and address the negative aspects of cultural television programs towards the development of a culture of community participation in its various aspects among the audience, including university students.
3- By directing it to the need to prepare a generation that has a culture of community participation in its various aspects, it may benefit Egyptian society as one of the requirements for the advancement and advancement of society.
4- The current study may help cultural television programs to take an interest in developing a culture of community participation in its various aspects among university students.
5- The need to spread and develop the culture of community participation in its various aspects among university students, as one of the most important requirements needed by Egyptian society, especially in light of the contemporary changes to which society is exposed.
6- The current study may help draw researchers’ attention to the importance of future studies of other groups on the subject.
7- There are many groups benefiting from this study, including: university education institutions, media institutions, and civil society institutions by presenting a proposed vision that could contribute to activating the educational role of cultural television programs in the development of a culture of community participation in its various aspects among university students.
Study Approach:
The current study relied on the descriptive approach, to suit the nature and objectives of the study.
Tool to study:
The study tool was the questionnaire prepared by the researcher as a tool of research to reveal the reality of the educational role of cultural television programs in the development of the culture of community participation in its various aspects among university education students, which was applied to a sample of students of the fourth division of some egyptian university colleges representing upper Egypt, which are colleges: (Science - Education – Literature).
The limits of the study:
The current study was limited to studying the educational role of some television programs - cultural programs - in the development of the culture of community participation in its various aspects among university students, and thus revealing the reality of the educational role of cultural television programs in the development of the culture of community participation in its various aspects among university students.
The field application was also limited to a sample of students from the 4th Division of colleges: (Science - Education - Literature) in some Egyptian universities representing Upper Egypt: (Assiut University - Sohag University - University of South Valley).
Terms of the Study:
1_Educational role:
The procedural concept of the ”educational role” in the current study is the activities, information, knowledge and intellectual and behavioural cultures offered by cultural television programs, through which they contribute to the development of a culture of community participation in its various aspects among university education students.
2_ TV programs:
The procedural concept of ”cultural television programs” in the current study: a media material aimed at communicating with the public in order to share information and interact jointly with the problems of society with the intention of influencing the behaviors and attitudes of individuals and groups towards the development of the values of citizenship and community participation in its various aspects among individuals, including university students, and an opportunity to engage its beneficiaries in understanding and contributing to overcoming the problems of their society, supporting the aspect of improvement and communication.
3_A culture of community participation:
The procedural concept of a ”culture of community participation” in the current study: a process that encompasses all voluntary activities carried out by university students with the participation of members of the community, through their free and informed contributions to shaping the lifestyle for the better in all economic, educational, political, cultural, health, environmental, social and security aspects.
4_University education students:
The procedural concept of ”university education students” in the current study: The researcher in the current study means university education students (represented by students of the fourth division of colleges and universities sample study), they are the most dynamic and active groups of society, and a source of social change, where this group is characterized by production, giving and creativity in all fields, so they are qualified to promote the responsibilities of building society.
Steps to study:
To answer the study’s questions and achieve its objectives, the study proceeded in accordance with the following steps:
_The first step: the researcher addressed the introduction and the problem of the study and its questions, its objectives, its importance, its approach, its limits, its tools, its terminology, and the steps of its progress, through the first chapter of the study chapter under the title ”The General Framework of Study”.
_Step 2: The researcher answered the first and second questions of the sub-study: ”What is television programs? And what’s her historical development? What are their most important patterns, functions, and community objectives?” By informing him of the educational literature regarding television programs and their historical development, their most important styles, functions, and community objectives, and trying to use this in the construction of the second chapter of the study under the title: ”Television Programs: Concept, Patterns and Community Goals”.
_Step 3: The researcher answered the third question of the sub-study: ”What is the culture of community participation? What are their most important actors in society?” By informing him of the educational literature regarding the culture of community participation and its most important actors in society, and trying to use this in building the third chapter of the classroom under the title: ”Community institutions and the hoped-for development of a culture of community participation among university students”.
_Step 4: The researcher answered the fourth question of the sub-study: ”What roles are hoped for from cultural television programs in developing a culture of community participation among university students?” By familiar with the educational literature regarding the hoped-for roles of cultural television programs in developing the culture of community participation and trying to use this in the construction of the fourth semester of the study under the title: ”The hoped-for roles of cultural television programs in the development of a culture of community participation among university students”.
_Step 5: The researcher answered the fifth question of the sub-study: ”What is the reality of the roles of cultural television programs in the development of a culture of community participation among university students?” by designing, judging, calculating their sincerity and stability, and then applying them to the sample members as described in chapter 5 of the classes under the title: ”Field Study and Its Procedures”.
_Step 6: The researcher answered the sixth question of the sub-study: ”What is the proposed vision to activate the educational role of cultural television programs in the development of a culture of community participation among university students?” By analysing the current situation of the educational role of cultural television programs in developing the culture of community participation among university students and its strengths, and its shortcomings and weaknesses, in light of this, the researcher presented a proposed vision to activate the educational role of cultural television programs in the development of the culture of community participation among university students and mechanisms for its implementation, in the sixth chapter of the current classroom under the title ”The proposed vision to activate the educational role of cultural television programs in the development of a culture of community participation among university students”.
Results:
One of the most important findings of the researcher in the current study is:
1- The weakness and shortcomings of the role of cultural television programs in urging university students to express their opinion on political decisions.
2- The weakness and shortcomings of the role of cultural television programs in educating university students about the importance of multipartyism and participation in its activities.
3- The role of cultural television programs in developing the skills of practical university education students and employing them in volunteering.
4- The weakness and shortcomings of the role of cultural television programs in urging university students to participate in resolving the economic crises that are hitting their society.
5- The role of cultural television programs in urging university students to help students who DROP out of education is weak.
6- The weakness and shortcomings of the role of cultural television programs in increasing university students’ awareness of the importance of their cultural participation in their society.
7- The weakness and shortcomings of the role of cultural television programs in urging university students to volunteer to participate in blood donation campaigns.
8- The weakness and shortcomings of the role of cultural television programs in urging university students to participate in environmental beautification.
9- Cultural television programs effectively contribute to raising the awareness of university students about the importance of rationalizing and preserving water resources.
10- The role of cultural television programs in urging university students to cooperate with their neighbours to improve services in their residential environment has weakened.
11- The weakness and shortcomings of the role of cultural television programs in urging university students to volunteer to participate in seminars to raise security awareness and the stability of society.
